The Stone Cross of Horn

The stone cross of Horn is a still existent sign of the jurisdiction of the von der Lippe. Details are available on the pages 88/89 of the second volume of the reference book.

The coat of arms of the von der Lippe is carved into the cross from both sides. The shape and raw expression lead to the conclusion that the cross has been manufactured in the 14th century.

The cross is at the border of the town Horn at the street towards Heesten near the branch of the way to Vahlhausen.

The original cross shape is not preserved as a “von Zerstörungswut beseelter Bellenberger” (person from Bellenberg with a soul occupied by destructiveness) cut one arm with an axe.

The following gallery shows some pictures made in february 2003.
